The City of Fairmont reserves the right to check with your bank for sufficient funds when presented with a check equal to or greater than $100.00 in value for payment of a delinquent account that is scheduled to be shut off. This will help us serve you without interruption of service and may avoid additional charges.

According to Section 4.8a(7) of the Public Service Commission's Rules and Regulations, the City of Fairmont will not accept payment on account by personal check if, during the previous twelve months, more than one check has been returned by the bank for insufficient funds. Payment will be accepted in the form of cash, money order, or credit card.

If an account is inactive and the customer has a credit balance, The City of Fairmont will make every effort to return the overpayment to the customer.
